The Financial tab contains the data for your portfolio. The following fields are available:
- Stock Symbol: The stock ticker symbol for a particular stock. To look up a particular symbol for a publicly-traded company, try https://finance.yahoo.com/lookup/. If you have not clicked on Manually Enter Stock Financial Data, then the Description, Price, $, and Valuation Date will be automatically filled.
- Description: The description is directly linked to a Stock Symbol (if filled). Otherwise, you may enter your own description. If you have not clicked on Manually Enter Stock Financial Data, and the Stock Symbol has a value, this field will be disabled.
- Ownership: The person who actually owns this entity. If an IRA or retirement account, only one person may own this entity, even if that person is married.
- Account: The account number of this entity. If a value has been entered, then the total for any records with this account will appear in the summary table on the bottom right.
- Type: You could use something like 401K:Fidelity:Account #. The totals for each type and sub-type will appear in the summary table on the bottom right.
- Category: You could use something like Fidelity:401K. The totals for each category and sub-category will appear in the summary table on the bottom right.
- Shares: The number of shares that you have for this entity. If a cash account, then the dollar amount.
- Price, $: The price of the shares for this entity. If a cash account, then you should enter $1.00. If you have not clicked on Manually Enter Stock Financial Data, and the Stock Symbol has a value, this field will be disabled.
- Valuation Date: The date of the value entered for this entity. If you have not clicked on Manually Enter Stock Financial Data, and the Stock Symbol has a value, this field will be disabled.
- Retirement Fund: Check if a retirement account such as a 401K or an IRA.
- Tax Status:

- Tax-Deferred: For more information, visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_deferral.
- Tax-Free: One such example is the Roth IRA. For more information, visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax-free_savings_account.
- Comments: Any additional comments that you may have for this particular record.
To add a new record, click the Create button and begin editing. To clone or copy to a new record, click the Clone and begin editing.
To modify a record, you may
- Double-click the record in the main grid.
- Select the record in the main grid and then click the Modify button.
- Click on any of the text boxes and begin editing.
To save your changes, click the Save button. To abandon any changes, click the Cancel button.
